Rob Reiner and wife Michele Singer found dead with knife wounds in their Brentwood mansion.
Reiner was 78. Singer was 68.
LOS ANGELES—At 3:38 pm LAFD responded to Reiner’s mansion on 255 S. Chadbourne Avenue, in Brentwood, a posh neighborhood in Los Angeles. LAPD’s Homicide Special Section (HSS) is on the scene investigating. HSS is responsible for high profile and multiple victim murders.
Reiner was born in 1947 into a jewish family in the Bronx, New York. Reiner identified as atheistic and sympathetic to the ideas of Buddhism. His father was famed director Carl Reiner. Reiner studied at UCLA Film School. In the 1970s he was in several television shows including All in the Family, which landed him two primetime Emmys for best supporting actor.
Reiner met his wife Michele Singer while he was directing When Harry Met Sally. They married in 1989. Singer was a photographer. They had three children Jake (33), Nick (31), and Romy (27).
Reiner found success as a director in Hollywood. Reiner was known for This is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Stand by Me, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, and a Few Good Men. Reiner won a primetime Emmy Award for outstanding supporting actor in All in the Family.
Reiner was a civil rights activist who fought for same-sex marriage through his foundation American Foundation for Equal Rights.
Reiner was active at the age of 78, he attended San Diego Comic-Con in 2025 to promote his film Spinal Tap II.
